More than just media consumption.

Available in 2 models – Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ come with a hefty starting price of S$998.00 and S$1598.00. Design beyond media consumption, the Tab S7 series have significant improvements from its predecessor Tab S6. However, is it enough for work productivity purposes? Here's a quick look against Tab S6.

Camera

Rear Camera

Like its predecessor Tab S6, both models share the same dual camera, a 13MP main, and a 5MP ultra-wide, housed at the tablet's back.

Front Camera

Sitting on the front of the display is an 8MP front camera, similar to the Tab S6. However, it is position on the top bezel of the screen instead of the regular side position when in landscape orientation. Users can look at the camera conveniently with this new camera position when using it as a laptop mode, especially during video conferencing.

Performance

Both models come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset, an Adreno 650 GPU, 8GB Ram (except for Tab S7 WiFi-only model), and a 120Hz high refresh rate. Meaning, it has a high responsive display and a buttery smooth experience when running between multiple apps. And according to Qualcomm, "gaming experience is elevated with 10% faster graphic rendering compared to Snapdragon 865".

Display

Galaxy Tab S7+

The Tab S7+ comes with a 12.4-inch edge-to-edge Super AMOLED screen, with a (2800 x 1752) WQXGA+ resolution, 266 pixels per inch, and a high dynamic range (HDR10+) display. The display colors are bright, vivid, and have excellent viewing angles. The Tab S7+ display is eye care certified to reduce low-blue lights on display, which causes eye fatigue when used for long hours.

Galaxy Tab S7

On the other hand, the Tab S7 comes with an 11-inch edge-to-edge LCD screen, with a (2560 x 1600) WQXGA resolution, 276 pixels per inch, and a 500nit brightness display. Its display colors are vibrant, and it also has a low blue light certified feature, which reduces the emission of harmful low-blue lights on display to prevent eye fatigue.

Design

Built-in an exquisite durable aluminum texture body with a smooth finish, both Tab S7, and S7+ are available in 2 colors, the mystic black and mystic bronze color. They are 5.7mm thick and weigh 500 grams for Tab S7, and 575 gram for Tab S7+, which is a perfect size and weight for carrying around. There is also a facial recognition function and a fingerprint scanner feature. However, the Tab S7+ has its fingerprint scanner built into its display, located at the bottom of the screen, while the Tab S7 has it built into its power button, located at the side of the tablet.

Battery Life

Both tablets have an intelligent battery with a 45W super-fast charging support. The Tab S7+ contains a 10,090 mAh battery capacity, which can last up to 14 hours of video playback, while the Tab S7 includes an 8,000 mAh battery capacity, which can last up to 15 hours of video playback, as claimed by Samsung. However, when using it in laptop mode for work and design productivity, the battery life may last shorter and require further testing before the conclusion.

SPen Performance

The latest version of SPen has a low latency of 9ms, similar to the newly launched Note20 Ultra smartphone. This improved responsiveness elevates the writing and drawing experience, giving the user an almost natural feeling of writing on paper. The SPen also has air actions for quick control for selected apps and a magnetic attachment for convenience.

Audio

Top with a Quad speaker sound by AKG(R) and Dolby Atmos(R), the sound is loud and great, further elevating any gaming and cinematic experience.

Keyboard Cover

Design to give a PC-like experience, the keyboard cover comes in a larger touchpad, 26% larger keycaps, and has 16 intuitive function keys align with Samsung windows PC. It weighs 502 grams, which is light enough to carry around with the tablet.

 Samsung Notes

The Samsung Notes include many features that provide high convenience in note-taking, elevating the learning and working experience. Such features include users taking overlapping notes while watching an online tutorial video, find notes previously recorded while recording is still on, turn handwritten notes into digital text, and save and share over PDFs.

The Samsung DeX is a software that extends the tablet into a desktop computing experience. It allows users to use directly on the tablet screen with a keyboard case, or when connected to a monitor. Also, in DeX mode, there are multiple apps supported, such as Microsoft Office, skype, and many more.

Verdict

All in all, the Galaxy Tab S7+ is a powerhouse tablet built beyond media consumption, giving the user the option to switch between entertainment and work purposes. It concludes with a large 12.4-inch super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 865+ chipset, a high refresh rate of 120Hz, 8GB Ram with a 256GB storage base, a battery capacity of 10,090 mAh, and has a low latency of 9ms SPen. The Tab S7+ is more than enough for entertainment purposes and sufficient for home-work purposes. On top of that, there are bundles of work productivity features to elevate further the convenience of working experience on this multi-purpose tablet. However, to acquire such a powerhouse tablet doesn't come cheap. It cost S$1598.00 for the WiFi version and an additional S$200.00 for the 5G version, which is a lot more expensive than other tablets.

Even so, there is a cheaper model available with an almost similar power built as the Tab S7+. That is the Galaxy Tab S7, which has a smaller display of 11.0-inch LTPS LCD, the same Snapdragon 865+ chipset, and a smaller battery capacity of 8,000 mAh. It also supports the improved version of 9ms low latency SPen and has the same productivity features available. The WiFi version of this model has a 6GB Ram and 128GB storage base, while the LTE version has an 8GB Ram and 256GB storage space, costing S$998.00 and S$1098.00, respectively. Almost half the saving of the Tab S7+ selling price.
